Written by Francis ap Rice. Contents: proceedings of Robert, Earl of Essex and Henry, Earl of Southampton, February 8, 1601. The arraignment (leaf 8 (older numbering) missing; leaf 15 misplaced), February 19, with a description of the court itself, the execution and Essex' speech. Speeches in the Star Chamber against the earl, February 11. Letter to Essex from Egerton with his answer, January 9, and one to the Queen from Lady Penelope Rich. List of those implicated with Essex. Poem composed by Essex in the Tower. Considerations touching the peace, 1597, by Essex. Reasons for amity between England and Spain. A poem - Rota fortunae in Gyeo (leaf 157). Also a note of Buckingham's death (leaf 4).

Frederick of Mömpelgard (d. 1608) became the Duke of Württemberg in 1593. Robert, Earl of Essex (1586-1601) was a favorite of Elizabeth I, Queen of England, and occupied a variety of military posts.
